Morgan Pressel, a Star on and off the Course

Morgan Pressel is amazing both on the golf course and off.  She has competed on 4 US Solheim Cup teams and still holds the record for the youngest player to win a major on the LPGA Tour.

I had the awesome experience working with Morgan at the RBS Women’s Golf Outing.   Morgan was warm and engaging to all of the participants and shared many personal stories as well as golf insights during the exhibition.
Her advice to the audience when asked what is the best thought during a swing was great, “just breath!”  Although Morgan has a couple of swing thoughts during her rounds of golf, she understands that thinking too much can interfere with effective timing during a swing.

I admire all that Morgan has accomplished off of the golf course as well. She turned the horrible experience of losing her mother to breast cancer when she was just 15 years old into an amazing foundation that is helping to save lives.  The Morgan & Friends annual event has raised enough money to aid and support patient care and research in the fight against breast cancer. In 2010 the Kathryn Krickstein Pressel Mammovan, under the direction of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital became a reality. This mobile miracle travels throughout Palm Beach County providing affordable breast exams and health care to those who might not otherwise receive it. In 2013 the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Lynn Cancer Institute announced the opening of the Morgan Pressel Center for Cancer Genetics. The center is designed to ascertain an individuals risk for developing certain cancers that have strong hereditary links.  In seven years the Morgan Pressel Foundation has raised over 3 million dollars. LPGA Professional, Pam Brosnihan

I’m sitting at my computer in shock with a deep sense of sadness.  Fellow LPGA Professional, Pam Brosnihan, passed away this week, she was just 51 years old.  I remember when she “beat” breast cancer!  She never missed a day of work and went through the chemotherapy treatments like a champ!

I played many rounds of golf with Pam!  I also had the opportunity to see her in action as a Head Golf Professional at Qual Ridge CC.  She was a professional from whom I learned so very much!  Pam was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and so fun to be around!
I appreciate all of the times we shared together!!

This is another reminder to live every moment of life to the fullest!  Live positive, Be positive and Golf-Positive!!

Harriette is an Inspiration to Everyone!

A 91 year old women completed the San Diego Marathon in record time for US single age group, 7 hours 7 minutes and 42 seconds!  Harriette Thompson ran her first marathon at 76 years of age!  http://www.people.com/article/harriette-thompson-91-finishes-marathon-in-san-diego

Harriette is an inspiration to everyone, whatever age, reminding us that a positive attitude and belief in yourself will carry you the distance!  I encourage you to bring this attitude to the golf course. There will be missed shots and challenges holes to navigate but think like Harriette when she was struggling at mile 17 but pushed through!  She also is a cancer survivor.

There will be ups and downs on the golf course but don't let the unfortunate situations get you down. Think of the next shot as an opportunity to recover and successfully finish the hole and round!

Keep believing!

Attitude is everything!

Attitude is everything!  Maya Angelou was an incredibly intelligent and wise women who truly made a difference throughout her life.  One of my favorite quotes of hers is, “If you don’t like something change it.  If you can’t change it, change your attitude.

During a round of golf you may experience something that you don’t like but it’s impossible to change.  Examples include: slow play, an undesirable pairing, a bad break on a great shot, the weather and more.  At the moment you feel negative or frustrated, analyze the situation and ask yourself if you can change it and if the answer is no, then change your attitude.

You may be able to change your level of efficiency during round of golf.  To get better and score lower you can incorporate golf lessons, practice time, fitness schedule and time on mental strategies, into your life.  The time, effort and discipline will certainly lower your scores!

Consistently remind yourself to Golf-Positive!
